Alaskans for a Real Gasline is a diverse group of Alaskans who share a common goal:
We want Alaska’s North Slope natural gas reserves brought to market as soon as possible.
The problem is that the current proposal for a gasline "contract" from Governor Murkowski is fundamentally and fatally flawed - so much so that it will most likely delay any real project, and will unnecessarily bind the state's hands in future decisions regarding Alaska's economy. That's why Alaskans for a Real Gasline is urging state leaders to follow this course of action that will ensure the pipeline is built, benefit all Alaskans, and protect the rights of Alaska's citizens.
The group is led by co-chairs Vic Fischer and Tom Irwin. Vic was a delegate to Alaska's Constitutional Convention, served two terms as an Alaska State Senator, and has been active in promoting the interests of Alaskans for decades. Tom served until recently as the Commissioner of the Department of Natural Resources, where he was intimately familiar with the potential for an Alaska gasline project and the negotiating terms that are critical to Alaska's future. Tom has also worked as the Director of Operations at the Fort Knox Gold Mine near Fairbanks.
In addition to Vic Fischer and Tom Irwin, Alaskans for a Real Gasline steering committee members include former state oil and gas officials, businessmen, and non-profit leaders.
Members of Alaskans for a Real Pipeline do not share political ideologies or party affiliations, and do not advocate for or against any candidates for public office.
They are united by one simple goal: A real pipeline project for Alaska.
